About

Hey there! I’m Jahnvi, the author, photographer and recipe developer behind this blog.

💌More about my background:

I was born in India, moved to Uganda when I was 7, so I pretty much grew up in East Africa. In 2018, I immigrated to Canada, where I now live. My life’s journey across three continents has deeply shaped how I experience and cook food.

Growing up, my mom was always whipping up incredible meals – mostly Indian, sometimes with an East African twist, and always delicious. She’s the kind of cook who could make magic out of anything, and I was her little assistant in the kitchen (official vegetable chopper). Sure, it wasn’t the most exciting job, but watching her cook and tasting the final dish made it all worth it.

When I moved to Canada and started living on my own, the absence of her home-cooked meals really hit me. I found myself constantly video-calling her, asking how to make this or that, and writing it all down in my little food diary that I carried with me here. That’s when I realized just how much food meant to me, it wasn’t just about eating, it was about connection, comfort, and culture.

🤔What you will find here:

I started this blog to share recipes that reflect my roots, my travels, and my curiosity in the kitchen.
I’m a lifelong vegetarian, and this space is all about globally inspired vegetarian comfort food. You’ll find dishes rooted in Indian traditions, African-Indian fusion meals I grew up eating in Uganda, and flavorful recipes from cuisines I love – like Mexican, Italian, and East Asian. Sometimes I keep it authentic, other times I add a twist (because why not?). If it’s comforting, meatless, and full of flavor, it has a home here.

❤️Meet Harsh – My Partner in Food & Life

Harsh and I met in 2020 on a dating app (yes, it does work out sometimes!). He’s not just my husband – he’s also the behind-the-scenes videographer, official taste tester, and occasional chef around here.

Harsh impressed our parents when they visited us last summer with his killer Kadai Paneer that beats most restaurant style and iconic Chole – they still think about it! honestly, if he’s in the kitchen, he will deliver something delicious!

We both love cooking, but we bring different flavors to the table:
Harsh is all about taste, indulgence, and doesn’t mind a little extra ghee or butter. I lean more toward wholesome, nutritious meals that feel just as comforting but a little lighter on the tummy.

So, between the two of us, this blog is the perfect mix – whether you’re craving something hearty and classic or fresh and nourishing, you’ll find something here that hits the spot!

💁‍♀️A little about what I do outside the kitchen…

I have a full-time job in Finance – I hold a CPA and ACCA license so yep I’m mostly glued to a computer looking at spreadsheets most of the time and analysing business results! Cooking is my creative outlet, a way to unwind, and honestly, my happy place after a long day of spreadsheets and meetings.

When I’m not cooking or doing grown-up things, I’m probably curled up at home, watching YouTube videos about personal finance, house makeover projects, time management, or healthy habits and lifestyles. I also love traveling, exploring new cities, and diving into different cultures – especially through their traditional foods.

I’m so excited to share this little slice of our world with you.
Thanks for being here, and I hope you find a recipe that makes you feel right at home ♥
