💌 Why I Love This Dal Masala:

  • Easy to make: 7 ingredients is all it takes and it makes a big batch enough to last you a good 6 months or up to a year if you make this less frequently.
  • High Shelf life: This masala has a high shelf life and if packed in an air tight container you will preserve its quality much longer staying fresh like you just made it!
  • Versatile: Although this masala is most commonly used for Gujarati dal, you can use this spice blend for any other dal or curry – the aromas in this spice blend just take the dish to another level!
  • Perfect to gift: This is a really great masala to gift anyone who loves gujarati dal – trust me, I’ve given this to some of my friends and they have LOVED it so so much!

🛒 Ingredients You Will Need:

  • Star Anise (Chakraphool)
  • Rock flower (Pathar phool)
  • Cloves (Laung)
  • Black peppercorns (Kali mirch)
  • Cinnamon stick (Dalchini)
  • Mace (Javitri)
  • Bay Leaf (Tej patta)

You can easily buy these ingredients at your local Indian grocery store or check them on amazon too.

Method:

  • Heat a pan in low heat.
  • Combine all ingredients and lightly roast them for couple minutes on low heat until fragrant.
  • Blend the ingredients together until they are fine ground.
  • Store in an airtight container and keep away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Use this spice blend when making Guajarati dal or any other dal and curry.

Instructions
 

  • Heat a pan in low heat
